STRONG BAD: Ooh! A little email never hurt nobody. 'Cept for maybe The Cheat. So what do we got here...
{reading}
Dear Strong Bad,
I was wondering what CGNU's mascot
is, and if they have any sports teams.
Thanks for the info.
Ike
STRONG BAD: {typing} Yeah, we got a mascot, Ike. Unfortunately, The Cheat, Strong Mad, and I were really hungry when we decided on a name. So, uh, all we came up with was the Crazy Go Nuts University Dumples. I think maybe we meant dumplings? But we were really hungry and tired and sorta confused and ended up putting Dumples on the application. We do have a sports team, though. The Golf Club Team. We have a game every day at 6pm!
{cut to a shot of the scoreboard on the athletic field, reading:}

{Cut to The Cheat holding a golf club in a ring facing a pile of old electronics, with Strong Bad, Strong Mad, and Coach Z cheering him on.}
STRONG BAD: Let's go, Dumples!
STRONG MAD: DE-FENSE!
COACH Z: Get yer head in the game, The Chort! The Cheat is wide open!
{The Cheat starts bashing all the electronics.}
STRONG BAD: Yeah!
COACH Z: Atta boy!
STRONG BAD: Go for the 8-track!
{The Cheat smashes the 8-track and the scoreboard gives CGNU one point with a buzzing noise}
THE ANNOUNCER: Dumples win!
{everyone cheers}
STRONG BAD: Look everybody! It's The Jolly Dumple come to celebrate our victory!
{Cut to Homestar in the Dumple costume. It looks like a ravioli with a tri-corner hat, a mouth, a big tongue with a drop of drool on a spring, and two huge hands giving thumbs-ups. As the Dumple dances, the fight song starts playing.}
STRONG BAD: {singing}
Fighting and sometimes striving
Wondering what the Dumple is
Excellence and what is valor?
And The Cheat will hit stuff with a golf club {The Cheat shows up holding cue cards that read "see", "gee", "in", and then "you", as Strong Bad chants:}
C G N... U!
HOMESTAR RUNNER: Me?
{Cut back to the Compy}
STRONG BAD: {typing} So, we're still undefeated. But next week's going to be a tough game against Homestar's Knees Tech. Well, I gots to go. I promised the team I'd get them real fruit smoothies if they won the game. And they won the game. So I'm getting them real fruit smoothies.
{He types in 'run "fightsong"' and walks off. Compy starts playing the song, showing the letter name of each note. Once it's done, it says "GO DUMPLES!!!" and The Paper comes down.}
Easter Eggs
- You can click on "really hungry and tired" to see a "LEM" (Lem Sportsinterviews) styled cartoon of Strong Bad, Strong Mad, and The Cheat being really hungry and tired.
- You can also click on "application" to see their mascot application:
College Mascot Application
College Name: crazy go nuts university
Mascot Name: DUMPLES!!!
Dean of Students: myself
Essay on why you think this is a good mascot:
i want some food.
Drawing of Mascot:
you know, a dumple. like for dinner
(There is a picture of a fork with a "dumple" on it)
- At the very end after the fight song plays, rolling over the notes plays them.
Fun Facts
Trivia
- The Pile of Electronics State team has a TV (later seen in Halloween Potion-ma-jig), Mrs. Bennedetto (Marzipan's microwave), a Panasonic RQ-830S 8-Track player (also referred to as "The Plunger" or "TNT" style), and a Nintendo Entertainment System.
- References to valor are common in the lyrics of college fight songs and alma maters. Valor is defined as the strength of mind or spirit that enables a person to encounter danger with firmness.
Remarks
- Although The Cheat never hits the NES, it still breaks as though it were hit. The way he broke the glass on Mrs. Bennedetto wouldn't crush an NES.
- This is the first time we hear Coach Z say The Cheat correctly. However, he may not be referring to The Cheat himself.
- The notes for the fight song are:
- C A F G F D A# G G G F E F G
C A F G F D A# G G G F E F
- C A F G F D A# G G G F E F G
- Proper musical notation practice would dictate, however, that "A#" (A-sharp) be written as "Bb" (B-flat), since the song is in the key of F Major, which has one flat and no sharps.
- The notes for the fight song do not work correctly if you try to simply press Tab through them, because the tab order is not pre-set.
- If the Dumples were to win their next match against Homestar's Knees Tech, they would have to find a new person to fill the mascot suit, as Homestar would probably be too injured to do his job for the next game.
- Just before the action moves to The Athletic Field, Strong Bad mentions that the CGNU Golf Team has a game "every day at 6pm!" Later, when he returns to the Compy, he says "next week's going to be a tough game". This suggests the next game isn't until a week's time and not, as suggested earlier, the next day.
Glitches
- The "application" Easter egg is accessible when the "really hungry and tired" Easter egg is (before Strong Bad actually types "application").
- The notes for the fight song have some incompatibilities when played on Flash Player 7 for Linux. It is fine with Flash Player 9 for Linux.
Inside References
- The "really hungry and tired" Easter egg looks very similar to Strong Bad, Strong Mad, and The Cheat's position at the beginning of Lookin at a Thing in a Bag.
Fast Forward
- A high school band performed the CGNU Fight Song as a Quote of the Week on February 9, 2006.
- Homestar later tried to make himself a real fruit smoothie using Strong Bad's alternate universe portal in alternate universe, with chaotic results.
- "Homestar's Knees Tech" is a pennant on the wall during the "CGNU Online E-niversity" commercial, in the Strong Bad Email theme song.
- Homestar later builds a fire inside the Dumples costume in 4 branches.
