The game now is fully voice-acted and features graphical changes and enhancements. Although the same three actions must be completed to close the case, several puzzles have been expanded with more steps. In the web version, all 170 points are earned during the process of finishing the game; in the ''Triunglate'' rework, only 160 points are earned through basic completion while the remaining ten are awarded for extra, hidden actions. The ending cutscene has been newly animated and now transitions into the beginning of [[Dangeresque Roomisode 2: The Intersection of Doom & Boom|the next roomisode]] rather than ending the game.

Dangeresque Roomisode 1: Behind the Dangerdesque is a Videlectrix adventure game in the style of early 1990s graphic adventure games like those produced by LucasArts and Sierra Entertainment. The player must help Dangeresque solve a case without leaving his office. Originally released as a Flash game on homestarrunner.com in 2008, the game was remade in Unity and expanded with additional puzzles and fully voiced dialogue fifteen years later as a part of the episodic collection Dangeresque: The Roomisode Triungulate.

[edit] Gameplay

See Dangeresque Roomisode 1: Behind the Dangerdesque Responses

Behind the Dangerdesque is a point-and-click adventure game. The player moves Dangeresque through his office, and can interact with people and items by choosing to look at, manipulate, or talk to them. Dangeresque narrates the actions he takes, for the benefit of the player. Puzzles frequently require completing several steps in sequence or combining multiple items.

[edit] Winning the game

See main article: Dangeresque Roomisode 1: Behind the Dangerdesque Walkthrough

Dangeresque must close the case by completing three actions:

  • Need photographic evidence of the attack
  • Need physical evidence that was left behind
  • Need this case file to have SOLVED stamp on it

[edit] Losing the game

All Game Overs have the same "go to jail" ending.

  • Use the door thrice
  • Talk to the door thrice
  • (The Roomisode Triungulate version only) Take a photo while the "victim" is not making an appropriately scared expression
  • Use the coffee with the case file
  • Use Dragon-Man takeout with the case file
  • Miss with the inked UN-SOLVED stamp on the case file

[edit] Roomisode Triungulate version

The game now is fully voice-acted and features graphical changes and enhancements. Although the same three actions must be completed to close the case, several puzzles have been expanded with more steps. In the web version, all 170 points are earned during the process of finishing the game; in the Triunglate rework, only 160 points are earned through basic completion while the remaining ten are awarded for extra, hidden actions. The ending cutscene has been newly animated and now transitions into the beginning of the next roomisode rather than ending the game.

[edit] Fun Facts

Title screen seen in the updated Dangeresque: The Roomisode Triungulate version

[edit] Explanations

[edit] Remarks

  • The sign on the building in the opening cutscene reads "warehaus"; "haus" is the German word for "house".
  • When Pom Pom unsticks the take-out food, katakana flash briefly, despite the fact that the food and kung-fu martial arts are Chinese.
    • The katakana spell "Kikku", the Japanese transliteration of the word "Kick".
    • In the Triungulate version, the "kick!" effect is written in English.
  • After collecting the photographic evidence, when the camera is used on an item in the room, Dangeresque says he won't take another picture because he's "only gots one instant shot left", but when the camera is used on the window, he says he's "outta film".
  • Strong Bad does not look as short next to The Chief as he does next to the people in the "Behind the Bad" shorts.
  • The only time the player needs to manually move Strong Bad is if he is on the opposite side of the desk.
  • The numerical pad can also be used to move, even diagonally, much like the classic Sierra games.
  • The text combination is said to be "on the floorboards"; however, there does not appear to be a wood floor.
  • If the player closes the blinds and then calls the take-out number, Pom Pom still enters the room regardless of whether the blinds are open or closed.
  • The S.W.A.T. team glove looks remarkably like the Poopsmith's gloves.
  • In the ending, Dangeresque jumps out the window and broken glass flies out, although the window did not appear to have glass.
  • The game can still be continued after getting a game over by clicking the screen. The screen will say "...OR DID I?" and the player will be brought back to where they just were in the game.
  • A copy of the game is included on the SBCG4AP Collector's DVD as a self-contained EXE file.

[edit] Goofs

  • In the opening scene when Dangeresque enters the room, his position moves slightly to the left after his first line of dialogue.
  • In the Flash game, the lamp's light is still visible when the light switch is turned off.
  • In the Roomisode Triungulate version, the achievement/bonus for getting all unique Game Over sequences is "Jailtime5", despite there being 6 ways. This could be because the original Flash game only had 5 ways, and it was named before the 6th was added.

[edit] Fixed Goofs

  • The Videlectrix main page initially linked to roomisode1.html upon release. This was fixed within a few minutes.
  • During the beginning of the game, when Dangeresque talks to The Chief, one of his speech bubbles misspelled "business" as "buisness".

[edit] Glitches

  • The safe-combination note is semitransparent and in front of Dangeresque, so when walking over the safe-combination note, its color changes to whatever color is behind it.
  • While using the numerical pad to move, sometimes moving diagonally will make Dangeresque walk backwards.
  • If the player uses the take-out package with the blinds, but Strong Bad is not near the window at the time, Dangeresque will reach into the air in his current location, and the take-out will magically appear on the window-sill. If the player does the same with other inventory items or opens or closes the blinds when Dangeresque is not near the window, he will walk over to the window before this animation occurs.
  • The player can walk Dangeresque into the desk by walking up into it near the bottom-left corner.
  • If the player keeps repeatedly clicking to use the un-solved stamp on the case file, it will cause the animation to glitch and reset, and even cause the file to become marked solved with the stamp mark in the center of the page.
  • If the player tries to get the takeout when it is on the blinds before taking the photograph, the game will hang.

[edit] Fixed Glitches

  • Looking at the rug when the glowing ink is visible would previously earn points each time attempted.
    • Looking at or using the take-out before having it dislodged could also be repeated for additional points.
  • Placing the whoozit last would prevent the player from finishing the game.
  • If the player inked the stamp, then pounded the desk again, another stamp would appear in the drawer.
  • Placing the inked rubber stamp in the window and then closing the desk drawer used to make the stamp disappear. Reopening the drawer then made it reappear. Attempting to retrieve the stamp replayed the stamp-getting sequence. (The stamp did not reappear on the window sill until re-inked.) This caused two stamps (one inked, one dry) in the inventory at once. These actions also earned points each time they were completed, thus one was able to achieve a score over 170. However, once placed and disappeared, the blinds could not be closed again and Strong Bad was also unable to put anything new on the window sill.
  • Clicking on the switch while below the chair formerly caused the game to hang.
  • Originally, after spinning the chair the first time and uncovering the biz card, the card would briefly appear a second time as Strong Bad was hopping off the chair.
  • Two hours after launch, an update was posted to the itch.io version to remove Steam related scripting that caused crashes when the non-Steam version tried to grant Steam achievements.

[edit] Inside References

  • Upchuck is called "whoozit", which is similar to how poop is called "whatsit".
  • One of the "Game Over" screens in the game says "Seriously though".
  • When Strong Bad gets off the chair the first time, he says "feelin' woozy", like Strong Sad did in caffeine.
  • If Strong Bad stamps the casefile as UN-SOLVED, he remarks "This does not look good for Dangeresque", which is similar to Homestar Runner's line in 50 emails.
  • "The Chief" is an example of an integral article, as well as sounding very similar to The Cheat.
  • Talking to certain objects will have Dangeresque ask the object, "Do you know the times?", as Homestar asked of the Monstrosity in animal.
